Liberty & Co of London Tudric Archibald Knox Pewter Tea Set – Arts and Crafts / Art Nouveau – c. This beautiful Liberty & Co (London) Arts and Crafts Tudric pewter Tea Set was designed by Archibald Knox, and dates c. It is h ard to find the complete set. In the Art Nouveau / Art and Crafts style, each piece is decorated with ornate Celtic reliefs and the Teapot and Water Jug finished with woven rattan handles. The design appears as number 97 in the Liberty Catalogue, under Yule Tide Gifts, where it is dated to 1904. Other examples can be found in the Victoria & Albert and British Museum. Size of Teapot: 25 x 16 x 11cm Size of Water Jug: 8.8 x 14 x 22.3cm. The pewter has an attractive aged patina. All four pieces are in good condition with appropriate signs of use over the past 115 years, with no significant wear to either the pewter or rattan. The Tea Pot’s rattan is in tact and in almost perfect condition, it has some very minor dents on the body and the rim. The Water Jug’s rattan is also in tact and in almost perfect condition, it has well worn wood protection on the thumb grip on the lid, and a few very minor dings on the rim, body and spout. The Sugar Bowl has a couple little dings to the rim. The Creamer, is almost perfect, but if you look very carefully, it too has taken a couple knocks to the rim. The underside of each piece is hand etched: Teapot, Water Jug and Creamer – J 4010 CX and the Sugar Bowl – J 40110 CX. Please inspect photographs carefully to ensure you’ll be satisfied.
