For sale today we have this outstanding Art Nouveau/ Jugendstil Silver on Pewter Desk Set. The set consists of a large and impressive inkstand, a pen tray, a candlestick and a vesta stand. The design of the set is very much in the continental Art Nouveau manner, with sculpted shapes that are further decorated with climbing Ivy leaves and seed pods on slender stems. Dates to the early 1900’s. In the absence of makers marks I believe that the set is a Hugo Leven design for J P Kayser & Sohn. What I can say with absolute certainty is the set is of the very highest quality with the casting being extremely crisp and superbly detailed. Inkstand- 37cm long, 21cm deep, 12cm tall. Model no 19 impressed to base. Pen Tray- 27cm long, 8cm deep. Model no 29 impressed to base. Candle holder- 18cm tall, 15cm wide, 13cm deep. Vesta Stand- 11cm tall, 11cm square on the base. Model no 53 Impressed to base. The condition of the set should be considered as being superb, with just some minor expected rub to the silver plate finish. Any questions then please feel free to ask?
