Presented is absolutely fantastic sculptural Art Nouveau silverplated table tray set consisting of a large tray, two cups and a smaller cup. The elements of the set are sculptured in female shapes of highly emotional state – very typical for Art Nouveau style. In a sense this is the very essence of Art Nouveau – elegant, impressive and emotional. The set is marked on only one piece. The mark consists of a Russian Imperial Eagle with a sceptre in its right claw and an orb in its left claw win the letters “M’ and “H on the sides. They were the major manufacturers of the so-called “Polish silver” – the widely popular silver plate items of everyday use. The name “Fraget” became the common name for all the silverplated ware in Eastern Europe. The factory of J. Fraget produced many interesting and collectible nowadays items, including silver plate candle holders and many Judaica items. The cups could be vodka shot glasses – 1 small one and 2 slightly larger ones. Or it might be a smoking set with the large glasses as cigarette holders and the small one for the matches. On of the female figures seems to be smoking, and the main figure on the tray looks like blowing smoke. The set is in excellent condition – there is no breaks or repairs.
