Antique Art Nouveau French Smoking Desk Set Circa 1900s Pewter Copper 6 Pieces. Very rare and impressive Art Nouveau floral and leaf design French 6 piece smoking desk set from the early 1900s. This set includes a tray, a lidded jar, ashtray, match holder, and two other holders. The jar and 3 holders all have their inserts. Material: exact metal contents of this set has not been determined. However, the inserts appear to be brass. All the other pieces look to be a combination of pewter with copper or copper/bronze type cold paint overlay. None of the pieces magnetize and overall this set is very heavy (tray alone weighs a little bit under 4 lbs, the whole set weighs almost 8 lbs). Approximate measurements: Tray 15-1/4″ x 8-3/4″ Ashtray 4″ x 2-3/4″ Lidded jar 5-3/4″ tall to the top of the lid, 4″ diameter at the widest point. Large holder 4″ tall, 3-1/8″ diameter at the widest point. Medium holder 3-3/8″ tall, 2-7/8″ diameter at the widest point. Small holder 2-3/4″ tall, 2-1/4″ diameter at the widest point. Condition: This set appears to be complete with all components. The three smaller holders are not meant to have lids, only the large jar. The set overall shows its age. There areas of corrosion on the brass inserts and a few other random areas on the other pieces. However, the patina on this set makes it very charming. The tray has some white paint on the bottom from storage which can possibly be cleaned off. The set may need some cleaning overall. It comes as is and as found.
