The key hole is located a standard 2 1/4 measuring from the center of the opening for the doorknob to the center of the round part of the turn piece. Finishes unlacquered brass (unpolished, this will acquire an antique patina with time) hand antiqued brass other finishes available by custom order. Installation Install the mortise lock. Center the plate over the lock’s spindle hole and key hole. Attach a doorknob to the spindle and pass it through the door, seating the doorknob in its receiver. Center the plate on the opposite side of the door. Level the doorknobs and plates, mark the holes for drilling. Remove the doorknobs, drill the holes and screw in the plate. Use the thin washers to eliminate any push/pull play.
