Every Piece Fully Hallmarked. Here we have a beautiful 24 piece Fruit knife & Fork set, however can also be used for Pastries/ starters or intermediate courses. Each piece is individually hallmarked which are very clear and easily readable. Each knife has a fine delicate engraving on one side by the back spine of the knife, not over the top and very stylish. Both the knife blade and fork prongs and fitting are all solid silver and only the handles are mother of pearl, each piece is beautifully balance and although they are dainty, they are also weighty due to the solid silver and mother of pearl. There is one knife which has a piece of mother of pearl missing which does expose the tang and another two knives that have a slither of mother of pearl missing at the ends of the handles, however this is not really noticeable unless you know, both these knives are fully functional and look beautiful. The blades of the knives are in very good order, not grooved or chunks missing and all points are in tact and not flat. There are some fine silver whirl marks and very fine surface scratches on the silver knives and forks, which is to be expected on a set 110 years old, however the silver shines / gleams and look absolutely beautiful. The forks are all in excellent condition, prongs are all straight without any bends or damage whatsoever. This is a beautiful set a very reasonable price due to one knife being damaged. The fitted cutlery box is stunning, I believe the wood is polished / varnished oak with a empty brass cartouche. Its interior is a vivid royal blue that shown no evidence of colour fade, each tray is immaculate with blue velvet and the lid of the box is also blue silk / fabric. The box does lock easily as it still has its original key, the box has a brass lock, brass hinges and brass angle strengtheners built into the wood, a quality piece in its own right. The box exterior and interior are in excellent condition. Length in total: 19.2 cm. Length of Blade & silver ring only : 11 cm. Blade width, widest point : 1.5cm. Length in total : 15.5 cm. Length of solid silver fitting only : 8 cm. Width widest Point : 1.2cm. Weight : 26.23 grams. Total Weight of contents and box : 2 kilos.
