Valentine in New York City. The firm became renowned world wife for the finest hand crafted silver, and decorative arts. Purveyors to the Imperial Family. Examples in the Honolulu Academy of Art collection, Sackler/Freer Museum, Wash. And the Clarke Art Collection to name a few. Each of the three pieces hallmarked as shown. This rare Japanese sterling iris tea cup is 2 3/4 inches handle to rim. And the matching iris saucer 4 1/2 inches, silver alone. Weighs 2 3/4 standard ounces. In very fine condition. The set retains the original, hand painted porcelain liner. Also hallmarked for Samurai Shokai. The extremely fine / delicate liner almost never survives the 100 or more years.
