UPDATE: this paragraph was sent to me by another ebayer. These pieces were painted by one of the estimated 25,000 amateur china painters in the US in the early 1900s, and they had to get unpainted blanks wherever they could. Sometimes the supplier couldn’t match Limoges to Limoges, so the artist chose porcelain by other manufacturers to make a set. This set would date around WWI because the war shut off access to European blanks and we turned to Japan for porcelain blanks. I think it speaks well of the artist that she/he adapted to what was available to make a beautiful set. 1924 – total of 43 matching pieces. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it. Lenox Belleek, Nippon, Epiag & Gerald, Dufraisseix & Abbot (GDA) & Bavaria (all it says) came together to create it. It’s all the same pattern and matches perfectly. That means American, Japan, Czechoslovakia, France and Germany actually worked together in about 1924. That’s just “WOW”. Where do I start describing this fantastic grouping? ALL THE PIECES ARE VIVID IN COLOR, AND THE CONDITION IS OUTSTANDING ESPECIALLY FOR BEING ABOUT 100 YEARS OLD. All are trimmed in gold. There is a band of pearl lusterware at the top followed by a larger band of light blue trimmed in gold. Along the middle of those bands are beautiful blue flowers with green leaves. The handles on all the pieces have heavy gold gilding which shows little to no wear. The whole set matches in every way and was obviously made to coordinate with each other. Normally I break up sets of dishes and sell by the piece, I just can’t do it this set. All 43 pieces belong together. 7 LENOX BELLEEK PEDESTAL CUP, SQUARE BASE = 3-7/8″ tall, 2-1/2″ in diameter – 6 are in excellent condition, 1 has an old repair on the the pedestal and the bowl has cracks, could still display. 8 LENOX BELLEEK SAUCER for Pedestal Cup (with square indent) = 5 in diameter – all are in excellent condition. 5 (UNDECIPHERABLE) ROUND COFFEE CUP = 3″ in diameter, stands 2-1/4″ tall. All are in excellent condition. Only 1 cup has the mark shown in photo and I can’t make it out. 6 (UNMARKED) SAUCER for Round Coffee Cup = 5-1/2 in diameter. 4 are in excellent condition. One has a tiny nick along the edge that was done during manufacture, it’s been painted over with the gold gilding. One has a hairline crack. 6 MADE IN JAPAN LUNCHEON PLATE = 9-1/8 in diameter. The MADE IN JAPAN mark is very faint, I didn’t include it in my photo’s but it’s there. 6 NIPPON DESSERT PLATE = 6-1/2 in diameter. The NIPPON mark is very faint, I didn’t include in my photo’s but it’s there. BAVARIA HANDLED COOKIE PLATE = 10 in diameter. EPAIG DOUBLE HANDLED LONG TRAY = 16-1/2″ in length, 6-1/2″ in width. Has slight wear of the gold gilding along the top of the handles. GDA TEAPOT = Holds Two Cups, stands 3-5/8″ (top of spout) 5″ in diameter. GDA SUGAR BOWL = 4″ in diameter, stands 2-3/4″ (without lid). GDA CREAMER = 3-1/2″ in diameter, stands 2-3/4″ tall. I rarely rate dinnerware as excellent, even more so with about 100 year old items. I just can’t get over the condition and rarity of this set. Most of this set is excellent. It’s just stunning. It’s going to take considerable time and packing materials to make sure this arrives to you safe and sound. We invite any reasonable best offers.
