Presented is a fabulous set of sterling silver overlay cordials with tray. This is a Japanese set, made in the Art Nouveau time period and very much in the Art Nouveau style. The set comes with five cordial glasses, ten sterling silver liners in which the glasses fit, and a silver and glass serving tray. The sterling silver liners are done in the form of flowers and grasses, realistically rendered and beautifully done. The tray has a sterling silver rim done in the same design, with bamboo shaped handles. This is fabulous, top quality work, suggesting a high end maker like Samurai Shokai or Arthur & Bond, though the pieces are not marked. The glasses, their liners, and the tray are all in great condition. The glasses have no chips and no cracks. The liners have no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. The tray has no breaks and no repairs. There are 10 silver liners or holders but only 5 glasses. The silver holders measure 1.15 inches or 29.4 mm at the bottom, and 1.47 inches or 37.36 mm at the top. Any glass this size or a little smaller will work. The tray as well as the silver overlay liners are marked sterling. Each of the glasses is about 2 1/2 inches tall. The silver liners are about 1 1/2 inches tall.
