1901 NOUVEAU BERNARD RICE & SON’S APOLLO EMBOSSED GRAPE & VINE COFFEE TEA SET. BERNARD RICE & SON’S. Active at 542 Broadway (Showroom) 4-6 Marion St. & 187-189 Elm St. The origins of the company date back to Ignatius Rice b. 1910 who in 1867 formed a partnership with his brother Bernard b. The partnership was dissolved in 1891 when Bernard entered in partnership with his eldest son Jacques b. 1935 forming Bernard Rice & Son. After the death of Bernard Rice, in 1897 was formed the new partnership Bernard Rice’s Sons between Jacques and his brother Louis Rice b. In 1901 Apollo Silver Co. Was a registered trade name owned by Rice brothers. Complete set in excellent condition, showing no dents, monogram, breaks, or repairs, substantial plating with a bright glossy finish, solid and steady quality manufacture, intricate detail to the solid castings and embossed, all enhanced with a nice soft patina, strong hinges and clean insides free of corrosion build up or repairs, barely if ever used, perfect as display, special gift or personal statement service set. Coffee pot 9 1/2″ by 9 1/2″, Teapot5 1/2″ by 11″, Lidded sugar bowl 4 7/8″ by 7″and cream jug 3 7/8″ by 6 1/4″ All pieces holding the company’s mark.
