STERLING TEA SET c1895 – ART NOUVEAU A beautifully designed and crafted late 19th century Mauser sterling silver tea service in the Art Nouveau manner. The work appears very much like the hand crafted designs of Gorham’s Martele, which was introduced shortly thereafter at the World’s Exposition in 1900. Frank Mauser opened his shop in 1887, primarily for the production of spoons and small articles, later advancing to tea and coffee wares. Merged with Hayward and McFarland of Mt Vernon, New York and Roger Williams of Providence to form the Mt. Vernon Company of Silversmiths. Acquired shortly thereafter in 1913 by Gorham. This set, is without question, the finest work from Mauser Mfg. Company we have ever observed. This late 19th century Mauser sterling silver Art Nouveau teapot is 10 inches tall. And the complete set is 61 standard ounces. In very fine condition. Interior of teapot clean as if little used. Rich sterling patina throughout.
