UPDATE: A member of the community has identified these as MEP (Markel Electric Products). Markel was born in Lithuania and came to the United States in 1891. Absolutely beautiful iron sconce frames with a surprising number of distinct period iconic decor woven into its design. The angular tiered structure atop and patterned borders cry Deco. The hammered surface finish points to Arts and Craft / Mission attributes. And a gold metal floral inclusion in the center is an outstanding centerpiece and reminiscent of Art. Each sconce is 10 inches tall, 4 1/4 wide and just under 1 deep. One weighs 1 lb 5 oz and two of the four have center floral inclusions that have tarnished. The back appears to state in part. There are no electric parts. These frames are fabulous foundations to finish them in a variety of ways. Message me as I will soon be listing individual and bundled lamp parts, both raw and antiqued. Very little wear can be seen despite their age. These were well stored. I acquired this collection with a handsome hoard of lamps and period parts from established antiquities dealers over the years for my lighting business. This is a sweet artifact of multiple bygone eras that will be a pleasure for the privileged enthusiast to repurpose or restore. Don’t let it slip away. Please ask all questions.
