Re-named Starr & Marcus 1864 till 1877, when Marcus joined Tiffany. In 1897, Theodore B. Starr was one of the first firms to retail Gorham’s recently introduced, hand wrought Martele line. This set, while not marked Martele, given the Art Nouveau design, quality of craftsmanship and exceptional weight, could easily pass for such. Never monogrammed to the visible body. Under each base, ribbon style script possibly LCW. This 120 year old Theo Starr Martele inspired teapot is 10 inches. Handle to spout 8 tall and the complete set weighs a bit over 83 standard ounces. In very fine condition. Handle secure, covers close flush. One small shallow bump teapot shoulder. Hallmarked as shown, this mark used between 1877 and prior to 1907. The item “Theo B.
