Antique to vintage 20th century French sterling silver & gilt-metal 4-piece hors d’oeuvres serving implement set with openwork, engraved decoration and ornate Art Nouveau style scroll and foliage pattern. Comprising of a flat server, a pierced spoon, a fork and a knife. On the front, each handle is monogrammed with inerlaced initials’EC’. They come in their original fitted presentation/storage box. Overall in good condition with age tarnish and light surface scratches. There are a couple of tiny dents, faint dimples to the silver handles. The metal part show scuff marks and light fading/wear to the gilt finish. The joints are tight and firm. The handles bear the French Minerva 1st standard hallmark for. The blades are stamped’METAL BLANC’. Maker’s marks’H. Are there, most likely for Henri Pautret, active from 1909. The flat server is 6 5/16 inches (16 cm) long and 1 3/8 inches (3,5 cm) wide at its widest point. The fork is 6 7/16 inches (16,4 cm) and 1 5/16 inches (3,4 cm) wide at its widest point. The knife is 7 3/8 inches (18,8 cm) and 1 1/16 inches (2,6 cm) wide at its widest point. The spoon is 6 7/16 inches (16,3 cm) and 1 9/16 inches (3,9 cm) wide across the bowl. Combined weight is 108 grams. Total weight with box is 372 grams. The box is structurally sound with only little wear to the outside. The interior lid lining is tearing in places and has some staining and fading from age. It measures 8 5/8 inches (22 cm) across, 6 1/2 inches (16,5 cm) back to front and is 1 5/8 inches (4,1 cm) tall.
