These lovely white porcelain plates with gold trim and light green accents were made in France. Each of these clean, gently used plates measures 9 3/4 in diameter. There are no cracks, chips, crazing or repairs. All of the plates show light utensil marks from previous usage. Gold trim wear varies from light to heavy on all of the plates. Considering these are plates that have been in service for over 100 years, they still show in very good condition! All of the plates carry the GDA under-glaze green mark and orange over-glaze distributor mark. This mark signifies these plates were made and decorated by Gerard, Dufraisseix, Limoges, France, then imported and distributed by Abbott, New York. GD Limoges used the’GDA’ mark from 1901 until 1941. Three of the eight plates also carry the G. Mark as well as the green under-glaze and orange over-glaze marks. In 1904, George R. Crocker founded a small imported goods store in Syracuse, N. Before long this small store was known all over the state for importing some of the finest china, crystal and crockery from around the world. Crocker died in 1911, the store was run by Marion L. West until it closed it’s doors for good in 1948. After putting together these various pieces of information, I believe the manufacture date of these plates is between1904 and 1914. All of the plates, including the three with the G. Mark, are identical in every way – three plates just have an extra mark. The pattern of these plates was rather trendy for the time, while still maintaining a degree of understated elegance. While many Limoges pieces are reserved for display cabinets, these plates are designed for everyday use. For over a century these plates have been serving meals with elegance and style. These lovely plates would compliment any table setting with their beauty and functionality! The plates are described as objectively as possible. If an item has a scratch or ding, I will tell you.
