This magnificent set of four antique salt cellars is so unique and rare! They were made in France C. 1900 (late Victorian Era). The Art Nouveau era, also known as the Bell Epoque (beautiful era), was characterized by artistic innovative designs with great attention to details and naturalistic designs. The cellars are all decorated with embossed and chased mistletoe leaves and fruit. All in asymmetrical natural streaming lines. The inside is gilt (vermeil). Two have open bottoms and the other two are closed bottoms. Each cellar is marked with the French silver hallmark Minerva 1st quality for. 950/1000 or 95% pure silver content higher than the standard. 925 sterling, as well as the maker’s mark L M with a Forget-Me-Not flower between them that’s for the silversmith Louis Alfred Mignon, active since 1883. The glass liners are original to the cellars, they fit perfectly and are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The cellars are also in excellent used condition. No initials or monograms. Measurements: each just over 2 3/8″ X 1 13/16″ (61.6 X 46.4mm). Height: just over 1 3/8 (36mm). The cellars weight together: 243.83 grams. Silver weight (without the liners): 69.5 grams. 2-7 DAYS DEPENDING ON LOCATION.
