Rare Smoking Set by Schafer & Vater of Volkstedt-Rudolstadt, Germany. This is a very rare four piece smoke set by Schafer & Vater. The pieces are composed of bisque porcelain and are as follows. Tray: Measures 8 1/4″ long and 7 3/4″ wide. No chips, cracks, or repairs. The bottom is marked with a crown over an “R” within a star, the hallmark of Schafer & Vater. Ashtray: 5 1/4″ long, 4″ wide, and 2 1/4 high. There is a small imperfection along the edge that looks like a factory chip that was glazed over. No other flaws to note. No markings on this piece. Cigarette Holder: 4 1/4″ high, 4 1/4″ long, and 3 1/2 wide. The underside is marked with numbers that look like “1385”. There is a hairline crack in her hand, but it does not compromise the integrity of the piece. There is an internal rattle. Match Holder: 3″ high, 3 3/4″ long, and 3 wide.
