Late 19th/early 20th century French Belle Epoque era sterling silver handled 2-piece fish serving set by Parisian silversmith Henri Soufflot. Comprising of a serving knife or slice and a serving fork. Both handles feature ornate Chinoiserie style decoration over a chased background. The servers are engraved on the blade and fork. The set comes complete with a fitted presentation/storage box. Overall in good antique condition. Possible a faint dimple or two to the silver handles and there is some tarnish in the recessed areas of the design. The upper parts show age related surface wear, including scratches and marks. The joints are tight and strong. The handles are stamped with the French Minerva 1st standard hallmark for. The blades appear to be silver plated metal. The knife is 11 inches (28 cm) long and 1 3/4 inches (4,5 cm) wide at its widest point. The fork is 9 7/8 inches (25 cm) long and 2 3/16 inches (5,5 cm) wide at its widest point. They have a combined weight of 290 grams. Total weight with box is 708 grams. The box is in decent shape with no structural damage. There is some minor surface wear, rubbing to the outside. The interior fabric is all intact, just three tiny tears and light marks to the lid lining. Good working hinges and latches; the box opens easily and closes snugly. It measures 12 15/16 inches (32,9 cm) wide, 5 7/8 inches (14,9 cm) back to front and is 1 9/16 inches (4 cm) tall.
