I picked up this set back in 1971 while in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A gift for my wife, I’d imagined we’d share many a drink together with this decanter holding our chosen spirit. Well, turns out my wife liked the piece a little – too – much. The first time I went to pour my go to bottle of gin into the decanter I heard STOP! What are you DOING? !! ? ” Apparently, this decanter was to be used as an “art object, ” and – not – (according to my wife) a “functional piece….. It’s beautiful, and very old, and – well… In a way I supposed my gin would only “defile” such an enduring and stunning example of antique sterling silver overlay decanter craftsmanship. This decanter (and accompanying glasses) has a creation date of 1930s. Condition: One of the shot glasses has a crack. The glass does not leak. Aside from this, there are no cracks present anywhere when it comes to the rest of the set (decanter and second glass). The glass of the decanter is ever so slightly “hazy” in places, but this is nitpicking : a stunning antique decanter set in truly beautiful form. I will get back to you promptly.
